With the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, that is...
I call her "the object of my drooling"... (where's the drool icon?

)
And serious HD video is the main selling point for me to get the 5D Mk II at some point.
Of course, it doesn't hurt either that she's got a full frame sensor and does excel in pretty much every discipline.
But HD video... man! On the 5D, it is no "child's play", anymore.
The quality of HD material filmed with a DSLR camera with a great HD video mode -- like Canon's 5D (or the 7D, as well) -- can easily exceed that of the most expensive "prosumer" HD camcorder models, costing several thousand dollars.
The folks behind this site...
http://www.fstopacademy.com/... have put both the Canon EOS 7D and the EOS 5D Mark II through their paces, and the results were so impressive that it caught the interest of George Lucas, and Philip Bloom -- one of the two guys behind the site -- got invited to Skywalker Ranch where they did a comparisons between the Sony digital cameras (which cost several hundred thousand dollars!) they used to film the "lesser three" Star Wars movies digitally and the Canon DSLRs, and the DSLRs faired really well.
Yes, image stabilization when recording video is currently an issue with DSLRs, but there's extra stabilization gear that can be used for handheld shots, and there's obviously always the good ole tripod. (You'll need a head with fluid bearings if you want to pan and avoid "jerky" or "stuttery" motion, though...)
Man, I wish I could find the original blog entry... it was a really interesting read.
Found it!
http://philipbloom.co.uk/2009/12/12/the ... non-dslrs/Man, I really like that Glidetrack thingie Philip is using in some of those pictures.
And I remember seeing some time lapse photography assembled into some HD video clips somewhere -- pretty dang awesome! And you can't even really watch it at anything more than maybe the typical 1920x1080 HD resolution on the web, ATM.
Imagine having something like those professional 4k digital projectors -- the ones they have in the best of the best digital movie theaters ATM.

Okay, enough raving for one post...
I'll ramble more later...
